  1. forever trendy

i can’t really remember why i even wandered over to forever21.com today but i did and now i want, i want, I WANT!

now i’m still not entirely sure where i stand on the whole romper issue as a whole, but i am sure i like this one. but i think i only like it on the model. i don’t think i could pull off the peter pan collar…or really anything that’s higher than a scoop neck. and i’m getting really confused about the waistline thing. i used to swear up and down by empire waists. now that i’ve dropped a few sizes, i feel like empire waists make me look pregnant. maybe i should give drop waists another try, but…i thought it made me look even boxier than normal. what other waistlines are out there?

one sure way to define my waistline would be with peplum…while this blazer kind of reminds me of miami vice, i really like the polka dot lining and the pleated back. but i would definitely skip the matching suit shorts.

in the forever 21 outfits feature, where they display fully styled outfits paired the blazer with the dress below. i’m not sure if that shade of tan would work on me but the black breaking up the line of tan to body certainly helps, as does the pop of color from the blazer. i hope i can find this dress in the stores so i can try it on and see how it actually looks.

these are just cute lacy shorts that are less than $15. $15! i am absolutely amazed at all the shorts that are out there that cost just as much as a full pair of pants. call me crazy, but at some point, when there’s less fabric involved, the cost should reflect it.

and then there was another cut out, fishtail/high-low hem dress. i think it’s the polka dot pattern on the skirt that really makes this one a winner. it’s also nice that the cut outs are more strategically placed so that you could actually wear a bra with the dress. ;)

heritage1981 versatile faux leather jacketwell, pay day came. i forgot that with money comes responsibility to pay the bills. boo hiss. since i am going to be fiscally conservative for at least the next week, i had to do my nightly browsing for stuff i’m not nearly tempted as much to buy, namely guy’s stuff.

i often forget that forever 21 not only has several shades of greige plaid sherling car coatdifferent lines, heritage1981 and twelve by twelve, but their heritage1981 line includes men’s apparel. i thought the overall selection was somewhat hit and miss, but it’s nice to have an alternative to h&m. one piece i really did dig was this faux leather jacket with a built in hoodie so that extra bulkiness of actually doubling up a full hoodie and a leather jacket is eliminated. i also saw a shades of greige red plaid car coat that looks nice and cozy for the cooler weather we’ve been experiencing this past week. it should be pretty self evident as to why i like this coat if you’ve seen my reaction to the red plaid coat i want from anthropologie.

bowery john varvatos black python hi top chuck taylorsi mentioned john varvatos yesterday but i didn’t really look through the site. today though i saw some chuck taylors that i would totally rock myself if they came in a men’s size 5 and if they weren’t $300. omg, python hi tops! and can you see the detail of the menswear lining? awesome. i’d love to be friends with anyone who buys these. other guy shoes i liked were on by penguin on urban outfitters. yes, they’re a bit summery but penguin tan earnie perforatedsomething about the brick red strap on the neutral shoe really appeals to me.

i think what finally brightened up my outlook on the evening was finding a parody of twilight called nightlight by the harvard lampoon that comes out on november 3rd. the product description on amazon cracked me up. i think i may need to preorder this!

About three things I was absolutely certain. First, Edwart was most likely my soul mate, maybe. Second, there was a vampire part of him–which I assumed was wildly out of his control–that wanted me dead. And third, I unconditionally, irrevocably, impenetrably, heterogeneously, gynecologically, and disreputably wished he had kissed me.

nightlight a parodyAnd thus Belle Goose falls in love with the mysterious and sparkly Edwart Mullen in the Harvard Lampoon’s hilarious send-up of Twilight.

Pale and klutzy, Belle arrives in Switchblade, Oregon looking for adventure, or at least an undead classmate. She soon discovers Edwart, a super-hot computer nerd with zero interest in girls. After witnessing a number of strange events–Edwart leaves his tater tots untouched at lunch! Edwart saves her from a flying snowball!–Belle has a dramatic revelation: Edwart is a vampire. But how can she convince Edwart to bite her and transform her into his eternal bride, especially when he seems to find girls so repulsive?

Complete with romance, danger, insufficient parental guardianship, creepy stalker-like behavior, and a vampire prom, Nightlight is the uproarious tale of a vampire-obsessed girl, looking for love in all the wrong places.
