allsaints is promoting their new fall lookbook and i’ve particularly taken to their paradise print. instead of tropical flora, paradise to allsaints is a peacock/peasant feather print, which sounds pretty fabulous to me! (though i do think they really meant peahen, since the amber color way is in brown/tan tones and peacocks are the colorful ones- and oddly, the tank comes in a blue color way that is more traditionally peacocky but i don’t like it as much. looks kinda tie dyed to me.) now, i wouldn’t wear the skirt and the tank together, nor would i even get both, but i haven’t yet decided on which one i like better. i’m going to guess i’ll end up with the tank because i have such a hard time wearing skirts but maybe i’ll challenge myself! we’ll see…

a year and a half after visiting my first allsaints store in covent garden it has come to my own backyard in seattle! yay! it’s a beautiful store (as if any of them aren’t) on the corner of 5th and pine. the first floor is primarily women’s, including shoes and other accessories scattered about, some tiny allsaints for the young ‘uns, and nearly all the men’s gear is downstairs. let’s focus on what’s important- the women’s stuff. specifically, what i’m coveting. there was the raziel jumper in the store, but even better, online (as supplied by the various ipads in the building) there’s a raziel CARDIGAN. now what’s so cool about the raziel? well, in case you can’t tell, the seams are held together by CHAIN!
buyer beware- allsaints’ sizing is on the uk scale so you’ll have to go up about 2 sizes from what you normally wear to fit into something (i.e. normally a US 4, you’d be a UK 8…and don’t even get me started on shoes sizing; i think that one might be +3). buyer beware 2- the allsaints site seems to be better priced than their stores. for instance, i heard the raziel cardigan is going for $250+ at the allsaints boutique in the san francisco bloomingdales. it’s only like $150 online. And the boots below? $370 in store, $320 online. and standard shipping’s free. too bad i will now be charged tax since the physical store opened in washington.

i need a maxi dress this season if i’m going to wear any dresses at all because of the massive bruises i have from pole. i think i’ve found what i want to start with at all saints! luckily i’m heading down to la in a month so hopefully i can try it on and buy it in person! love the leather straps on it; it’s just enough luxe to keep the perennially casual maxi dress from looking out of place when not at the beach, which for me, is practically always.

i already have a grey all saints sweater dress but this one appeals to me enough that i don’t care that they’re fairly similar. i mean, this is a v-neck, the one i have is more of a ballet neck. this has a cool inverted drapey pleat, the one i have is more of a study in wrapping and ruching. totally different!
(i would actually get this in black, not grey, but the cool pleat didn’t show up as well in the black.)

i was thinking that until it warms up a bit, this sleeveless top needs a lil sum’in sum’in to keep covered up.
which cover up do you prefer with it?

i continue to profess my longing for spring but it seems that my palette is still somewhat dour. i want to transition to lightweight fabrics but haven’t found a ton in light or bright colors that are equally appealing. these two tops are perfect examples (granted the all saints tee only comes in black but their entire color palette is pretty neutral) of what i’m talking about.
fyi- all saints is offering free shipping on all us orders. take advantage while you can. i know i will be.

the pictures from the bravern opening finally posted online today. it was poorly categorized. apparently “random pictures of shoppers”=”party” in team photogenic land. took me a durned long time to find myself, The Boyfriend, and the pups. pictures didn’t turn out half bad though. while i was searching for our photos, i came across this picture of possibly the most awesome little girl ever. how cute is she with her purse and all her neiman marcus shopping bags?!?! i bet she’s such a bitch. and i love it!
my other web wanderings are related to tonight’s activities. i’m going to the dlist golden ticket party at venom because my friend dj sharadawn is spinning. she advised it was going to be kind of fancy so i decided to wear a dress i got in london this past spring at a lil store in covent garden called imso. i love the internet because even though it seemed like such a tiny shop, i found them! yay! (not to be confused with the international mobile satellite organization- www.imso.org.)
this just in! a lil birdie tells me shoefly is going out of business! alas, another one bites the dust. personally, if this is true, i would recommend hitting up the brick and mortar stores to check out the 90% sale because the selection in stores are much better than online.
back to my online ramblings…my reminiscences of london made me check out what’s new over at all saints. they’ve inspired me! i started with their homeware section and saw luxurious knit throw pillows. a couple of winters ago i bought about a dozen skeins of red and cream, thick cashmere yarn with the thought of making a blanket. alas, i didn’t have enough yarn to finish out the pattern i’d started so i just stopped. it’s actually still sitting, undone, in my craft box, but now i know what to do! i’m going to make me some cashmere throw pillow covers! mayhaps i will start frogging my blanket and beginning my pillow covers when the weather firmly turns towards dark and damp. how cozy of a picture is that? knitting on the couch during a drizzly dusk…nice…

i went through the october 2009 lucky magazine today. i have to say, i’m quite pleased to see the magazine in full fall mode. between the autumn/winter clothes i saw and the crazy-fall-is-just-around-the-corner fall weather in seattle today, i’m ready for mother nature to bring it!
apologies for regurgitating a major media publication, but i really feel like i have to rave about a few things that i saw in this issue. first, the fall bag guide included a spread on foldover bags that have converted me to a fan. i’m especially fond of the grey suede lucky bag. is it just me or is it year after year grey suede=fall? living in seattle though, grey suede shoes haven’t really been an option since i don’t want to ruin my pretty new shoes right away. this might be a good solution otherwise!
i may have been prepped though for this new found taste for foldover bags. a few weeks ago saks sent out a marc by marc jacobs fall preview email and once i clicked through it i found the petal to the metal sasha shoulder bag. to. die. for. i WILL be getting it this fall.
so next is miss jenny kang’s “what i want now” page. this month she picked “soft hues and dreamy, abstract cuts [that] capture the twisted romance of the corpse bride”. i am all over this. after visiting london this past april and discovering all saints, who’s kind of grungy/steampunky/romantic vibe is awesome for typical london (and seattle) weather, but maybe not so appropriate as we were just getting into spring/summer, i’m happy to see more of the look now that it’s more season appropriate. featured in this editor’s picks page was an anzevino and florence silk cardigan and a deborah lindquist sweater dress. unfortunately i couldn’t find pictures of said items i’m in lust with on the credited sites (openingceremony.us and deborahlindquist.com) but go check out the sites, they’re both great. i actually was just reading a piece on style.com’s iphone app about an opening ceremony…opening…in japan and the great party that came with it. definitely piqued my interest and seeing this cardigan that i hope shows up on site soon (heaven forbid it is ALREADY SOLD OUT) solidified my opinion on this site as a go to place in the future. hope they open a location in or near seattle soon.
apparently, deborah lindquist is a green designer and specializes in recycled vintage cashmere. at least from poking around her site, most everything seems to be tagged with this fabrication. not that it’s a bad thing at all. i love me some cashmere! i am all about the looks she has up on her site (although i do question if it’s the most recent collection posted. i hate it when designers don’t keep their sites up to date). perhaps a bit over the top though is a $112 cashmere dog sweater. but it is supercute and would be perfect for my super tiny black hole chihuahua mix, pj.
last but not least, and i seriously don’t recall where i saw it in lucky, there was the seychelles fiddle ankle boot. when i saw it on the model, it reminded me of a horse hoof, but in the best way possible. i actually like how it bends the foot just so, in the way a hoof daintily comes off of a horse’s leg. we went to the udistrict today and happened to stroll into 5 doors up on the ave and they had this shoe in brown but not black (boo hiss). i really liked how the black boot was styled with a black tight or legging, it really helped keep that horse image alive for me. if i were a brown tights kind of girl i might have gone ahead and procured the brown ones but alas no. they did look really hot on though.
oh, and i noticed that their lucky at your service iphone app is by the same people who did the seventeen fashion finder iphone app. while the lucky app has definitely improved over previous iterations, the current version lacks big time in the same way the seventeen app does- it doesn’t update often enough! i want daily, if not multiple times a day, updates! i haven’t had either of these apps long enough to tell if they’re at least going to update with each issue, but seriously…this may be for lack of personnel to update the content often enough, but i almost wish they wouldn’t bother to put an app out at all if they’re going to send out a half assed one. rant done. for now.
