caged in
i’ve wanted a new pair of cage heels for practically a year and have just found something that isn’t dominatrix black that appeals to me. yay!
juicy does yoga
did you know that juicy now has a yoga line? downward dog couture. their most notable piece is some sort of spin on the snuggie. my favorite though, is this fleece ruched jacket and shorts set. too cute!
authentic vs useful
so one of my friends is having a mad men themed party in a few weeks. i had planned on getting a vintage-y dress complete with petticoat. i thought that at the very least i’d get multiple wearings out of the petticoat for the boudoir dance classes at divine movement. it’s a good thing i didn’t buy the outfit spur of the moment though! after attending my first inversion class (as in i am now hanging upside down on the pole), it occurred to me that a knee or tea length petticoat is just going to get in the way at pole (either getting tangled up while spinning or flipping over my head while inverting), so i really couldn’t use that as an excuse to invest in a petticoat. but where does one get teeny tiny skirts that just barely cover one’s ass? well, in times when i need something a lil off kilter, i turned to hot topic and they did not let me down.
thank you, hot topic, for always having what i need, be it a kooky hat, a true blood tshirt, or a slutty skirt, and at such good prices! hopefully i’ll be able to find this tutu/petticoat thing is available in stores just because i’d like to avoid shipping costs and get that instant gratification thing going on.
ooooh, soft
who doesn’t like soft and cozy clothes? after getting some promotional emails (including one announcing the return of ballard boutique, olivine atelier, albeit in web presence only), i’ve determined what are going to be my comfy staples come this spring/summer.
exhibit 1: ella moss jackie strapless striped dress via shoplastyle.com because they have a 20% off promo code (lucky43217) good through 4/15, free shipping, and since they’re based in la, no tax!
i’m really feeling the strapless thing lately and this is an eye catching pattern in a basic colorway so it’s not too overboard for me. also, i love the shirred bust.
exhibits 2 and 3: michael stars twisted scoop neck tee and off shoulder zebra print dolman tee via olivine atelier’s site because they also have a 20% off promo code (seattlepicks) good through the end of april and free shipping for orders over $50 (free delivery to select seattle zip codes for orders over $200!).
i like the loose yet clingy look of these tees. i also realized that i am sorely lacking in tees that i am comfortable with wearing. i have a lot of abercrombie tees i’ve yet to let go even though they’re not nearly as clever/appropriate now that i’m not in school anymore and, oh hey, they don’t fit either.
exibit 4: michael stars convertible tube dress (in black, not pink), again from olivine, because not only does it fit my strapless moment but when that moment has passed, i can wear it as a skirt. i have an ella moss top that i also wear as a skirt but that one has dangly bits in the front as a top and therefore a tail when it’s skirt so it’s a bit harder to wear.
wall o’fugly
oh dear lord, please tell me this was all photo shopped. if you look more closely than just the hair, there’s a nose ring, rhinestones by the dog’s eye, and a tattoo!

adidas by stella mccartney
i don’t usually like adidas by stella mccartney that much but maybe because i’m working out more now and spending more time in workout clothes that i want something more stylish than the loosest sweats i can find. since it’s still a bit nippy out, i’ve been grabbing my j.crew long sherpa hoodie on my way out the door but what will i grab when the weather gets warmer but i don’t necessarily want to step out in just a tank and shorts? well, stella’s got a good option! i kind of hate hearing people say this, but this really is so chic! love the fancy kimono sleeves on this hoodie. i wish it came in more colors, but i’m not going to turn down a classic heather grey either.
while admiring this top, i found some other pieces i want. for instance, how great would these be for a summer alternative to a flip flop? my first thought was to wear them primarily while traversing between home and whichever barefoot workout studio i am heading to (i just realized i really only work out in barefeet…eeeenteresting…) because they remind me of slippers and i basically wear uggs to and fro right now because they, too, are like slippers…just bigger. but these are really cute, aren’t they? like really cute. oh, want want want.
also discovered during my hunt, but far less likely to actually get are the cover up yoga gilet and tennis skirt. i think the gilet may be too cool for me, but i really like how it’s styled on the model and if the tennis skirt came in other colors than white or silver, i may just have to be all over it.
to buy or not to buy
i can’t decide if i like this splendid dress $99 worth. like the cut, like the fabric, don’t love the color but could probably get over that…what do you think? i have a lil under 24 hours to decide…
