classic tory burch flats on an espadrille sole for spring? yes please!

  3. showing some skin

    March 19, 2010 by thelillinator

because of pole i’ve got all sorts of bruises and burns (pole, floor). the ones on my arm i’m okay with but now that i’m getting better at climbing the pole, the ones on my legs are becoming more numerous and noticeable, which is bad news as spring and summer approach. did you know that arnica is supposed to help reduce bruising? neither did i until a couple days ago when i was perusing instyle’s 10 things to… articles. i started with 10 things to take better pictures and ended up on 10 things to look better naked. one was about reducing discoloration or bruises and they featured goldfaden’s arnica and vitamin k healing cream. i have no idea if it really works and i’m not sure if i’m willing to simply try it out at $75 but it gives me hope.

i’ve done a little bit of research and it turns out that arnica gel is something that if i can’t find at a drugstore, i can at least go to a health food store to get. i’m going to try this first and see how well it works before investing more into goldfaden’s fancy version.

  4. chuck me

    March 18, 2010 by thelillinator

i was at the southcenter nordstrom over the weekend, whiling away some time waiting for The Boyfriend’s flight to arrive at sea-tac, when i spied some new iterations on the classic converse chuck taylor. some were glittery, others had graphics on them, but the two i liked the most? a knee high(!) version (they zip up the back) that mostly just amused me but i would totally love to try to make work and a more realistic pair of slip-ons with painted on laces.

  5. good cover ups

    March 16, 2010 by thelillinator

since it seems like i’m going to be getting a bandeau bikini (which usually have the option to remove the straps) it also seemed appropriate to get a strapless cover up. i like the wrapping and pleating on this l space dress so much so that i think i’d still wear it away from a pool or beach. i hope it will end up being available in more colors. i’ll take the orange but it’s not my favorite.

and in a completely different sort of cover up, i thought juicy’s military shirt/jacket (complete with should stripes and a back ruffle!) was adorable. masculine meets feminine/utilitarian meets embellishment/i need one more this meets that so fill in the blank at its best.

  6. going nude

    March 14, 2010 by thelillinator

i’m super excited about this spring’s nude shoe trend. i already have a couple of pairs that i’ve been wearing on and off for a few years (i think i’m going to spin them as “vintage”) but i’m really digging a couple of pairs i saw in the march 2010 neiman marcus book.

maybe i’ve been spending too much time at pole, but i love the platforms on these! they’re in such direct opposition of the innocent ballerina that the nude tulle wrapped around the ankle invokes. granted, $1,200 is about $1,150 more than i would spend on a pair of shoes for pole, but if i could afford it, i totally would.

these stuart weitzmans are a bit more within reach at $345, if only i could find somewhere to buy them! i just searched nearly a dozen different sites for a link, even stuart weitzman’s own and nothing! i hate that. regardless, these are still pretty with a hint of bondage/hardcore courtesy of the delicate chains (not to be confused with hardcore bondage. definitely don’t think these qualify) so let’s still all ooh and ahh over them and just hope it doesn’t take too long for someone to make these available.

  7. more

    March 10, 2010 by thelillinator

i already have a grey all saints sweater dress but this one appeals to me enough that i don’t care that they’re fairly similar. i mean, this is a v-neck, the one i have is more of a ballet neck. this has a cool inverted drapey pleat, the one i have is more of a study in wrapping and ruching. totally different!

(i would actually get this in black, not grey, but the cool pleat didn’t show up as well in the black.)

  8. out of control swimwear

    March 7, 2010 by thelillinator

i am not entirely sure what happened in the few years since i last bought a swimsuit but, wow, they got expensive! (or perhaps my taste has gotten better?) each swimsuit that i’ve liked is around $100 for each piece! even i am having a hard time justifying spending $200 on less than a half a yard of cloth that i will wear only a few times. we’ll see. i won’t be heading to florida for a few months yet so hopefully one of these options will go on sale and still be in stock by the time july rolls around.

my love of ruffles is translated in swimwear to skirt like bottoms. i definitely prefer the fuller coverage of a skirt-like/boy short bottom, which seems to be often paired with a fuller coverage top as well. i am not as fond of the bandeau cut for a top, but i like these bottoms too much to mind the more obvious tan line the bandeau will create. i think it’s hard to tell here, but the middle picture of marc by marc jacobs’ 2010 resort collection belleville bikini has a skull eyelet pattern embroidered into it. so. me. *swoon*

this bikini by undrest (excited they do swimwear as well as lingerie!) appeals to my latent athletic side. aside from the cleaner silhouette of it, i can’t quite place why i keep thinking beach volleyball but i do. the contrasting trim, though, seems to be a nod to the brand’s underwear roots, which may be why i also find this bikini cheeky and feminine at the same time.

does anyone have suggestions for suits in either of these veins that won’t cost more than a pair of designer jeans?

  9. one top, which cardigan?

    March 5, 2010 by thelillinator

i was thinking that until it warms up a bit, this sleeveless top needs a lil sum’in sum’in to keep covered up.

which cover up do you prefer with it?

  10. easy breezy

    March 3, 2010 by thelillinator

i continue to profess my longing for spring but it seems that my palette is still somewhat dour. i want to transition to lightweight fabrics but haven’t found a ton in light or bright colors that are equally appealing. these two tops are perfect examples (granted the all saints tee only comes in black but their entire color palette is pretty neutral) of what i’m talking about.

fyi- all saints is offering free shipping on all us orders. take advantage while you can. i know i will be.
