problem? solution!
lately i’ve been pondering a pair of gold hoops. not plain gold hoops, but something with a lil pizzazz but not over the top. i didn’t want any sparkle but i wasn’t sure how else to attain a distinctive look for otherwise basic gold hoops. enter cc skye. i just bought a pair of snake print gold hoops off of the cc skye site that i think meets all my requirements for timeless yet unique earrings. and courtesy of people magazine, i found out that with the code ILOVECCSKYE you can get 20% off anything on their site until christmas day. score!

birthday loot
my birthday was on wednesday. i was informed that i’ve now outlived kurt cobain. i guess since i didn’t shoot myself before i turned 28, i earned a few things. some of the highlights include:
the marc by marc jacobs petal to the metal sasha bag courtesy of The Boyfriend (love it. using it now. it is awesome.)
skull and crossbone bandages from a coworker friend because apparently i haven’t fooled anyone into thinking i don’t have at thing for them. then again, when i first opened these up and finished squealing, i immediately said that i wanted to hurt myself so i could use the bandage. it never occurred to me that i could just put the bandage on without an injury. hm, i wonder what that says about me?
an edward cullen action figure (which The Boyfriend has decreed cannot enter the house. edward will come keep me company at work instead) courtesy of my manager (who i learned is a mere 3 months older than me. i find this somewhat shocking). she is newly exposed to the twilight phenomenon. beyond my incessant rambling about the books, the movies, and robert pattinson, i got her to watch twilight on dvd in preparation for new moon in the theater. maybe she’s just humoring me, but i’ll take it. the more the merrier on the dark side, i say.

oooh, pretty!
purely paige has done it again! i loved her abstract silver necklace and she managed even to one up that with the silver crater, which is almost just like the abstract necklace, but with some pretty and sparkly. (i’ve put in a request to get a pair of silver crater earrings made. *fingers crossed*)

dress you up in my love
i have that line stuck in my head, but i can’t remember what song it belongs to. ah well.
one of my buddies sent me a pic of a dog wearing a monkey daze t-shirt with a rhinestone skull and crossbones on it. of course this sent me on a search for it and i found a cool lil shop called madison’s fifth avenue, a luxury gift boutique for pets. ruffus has a pretty good rain jacket, but pj’s is harder to get on and off and overall doesn’t fit as well (if you’re wondering why we got her a raincoat that doesn’t fit, it’s actually a hand me down from ruffus). i’m waiting to find out if this raincoat has the oh-so-important slit for a dog harness to fit through on the back, but if it does, we have a winner! it’ll make a statement that she’s a girl without (i think) saying she’s a princess (since according to most people i know, apparently i’m the princess).
i did find a monkey daze shirt of my own that i think either pup would look good in. i feel like the fleur de lis is on the same wavelength as a skull and crossbones but since ruffus already has a hoodie with a skull and crossbones and their little poop bag pouch has tiny skull and crossbones on it, this fleur de lis hoodie will keep people from thinking i have some sort of fetish. (even though my own purse has tiny skulls and crossbones on it, i have a hoodie that looks like an old granny floral but it has skulls and crossbones all over it, and the tie i got The Boyfriend has skulls and crossbones on it. i have no idea why people might think i have a thing for skulls. or the tv show bones.)
or maybe if i want both pups to coordinate in full skull and crossbones glory (without being too matchy matchy. i hate it when i see couples or families wearing the exact.same.outfit. i also think it’s ridiculous that The Boyfriend can’t merely color coordinate, he must wear the exact.same.colors on his shirt, shoes, and coat) i should get pj this black and red striped sweater. squee! the doggie cuteness abounds.

madewell
i don’t quite understand why madewell doesn’t have e-commerce set up given that they are an off-shoot of j.crew. it’s not like j.crew is in the stone age of online shopping. why can’t they get their shit together so that i can order this sweater without having to *gasp* make a phone call!? how inconvenient to expect me to talk to a person. i may give in though because even though i don’t generally like dolman sleeves, i finally got those frye matilda button boots i wanted, and they need skinny jeans to go under them, which necessitates a big floofy top. given that it’s winter, a big, floofy, warm top is even better. i see my new jimmy choo for h&m big ass bracelet rounding out the look quite nicely. also appealing is that the sweater is under $80. fine, madewell. you’re offering is enticing enough for me to break with my normal shopping habits. happy now?

butter makes it better
The Boyfriend and i are currently using a hand-me-down butter dish from his parents, which is retro/kitchy cute. i’d have to say though, that i feel like there’s a major design flaw in that it’s shaped like a bowl with a lid, which can make scooping out butter a bit messy. i spied a a glass butter dish at posh that i liked because it was a flat dish with a domed lid. anthropologie has just bested them though. not only does it have the flat dish with domed lid shape, but it’s supercute with a lil lady drawn onto it. happy birthday/merry christmas? (hint, it also comes in yellow, which i like a lil better.)
