yes, i realize i’ve been horrible about posting lately. first i was busy with work, then i was busy planning out my vacation to la, then i was on vacation in la…(btw…i got engaged in la!) so yes, i’m a bad blogger. there was much shopping to be done in preparation for my trip that was essentially a five day shopping spree. i’ll have to gather up some pictures to share what i bought. (in other news, The Boyfriend bought 15 pairs of shoes on this trip!)

but now i’m back and am about two weeks away from a work trip to nyc. so now i need to put together a google map for what shopping i can accomplish in the evenings for the 4 days i’m there (yes, i’m very type a). i went to the opening ceremony in la and it’s just too cool for me so i’m not going to bother finding the nyc outpost but you know what wasn’t available in la? topshop. and how fortuitous! kate moss’ spring/summer 2010 collection for topshop just launched. i’ve already picked out a couple pieces that i hope i can find in the store (actually, i guess first i’m going to hope i can find the store itself). after watching a horrible video of kate dancing around striking two poses on a ridiculously short loop while focusing mostly on her face and hair modeling her designs i took a second to appreciate how broad it actually is (there are 32 dresses alone) and consistently rocker/boho chic! i love the lingerie as outerwear concept (lace! ruffles! layers of sheer fabric!) and kate does it exceptionally, wearably, well. dear nyc, please leave me a few pieces to choose from.

i’ve been on the hunt for swimsuits for my impending trip to la and betsey johnson is totally in my crosshairs. the bikini on the left is the one i’ve caught, the one on the right is one that i will continue to stalk. but can we take a second and just marvel at the absolute over-the-topness that is the second suit? i mean, there’s embellished, but this is embellished. (that’s right, bolded AND italicized.) but, um, it would be kind of perfect for pole (allpoleallthetime).

zac posen for target

i was there, pretty darn in early in the morning for me on a sunday, and either the northgate target didn’t get much depth in the zac posen line or there are a lot more people than i would have thought that will forgo sleeping in. i was more or less just whelmed with the line as a whole. the clothes in the marketing pieces all looked good but in reality most of it was just not very me. one item i did fall a little bit in love with is a two piece ruffle (surprise) dress. it’s brilliant! there’s a ruffle overlay that totally plays up the femininity of the dress but you can remove it and vamp it up in a strapless little black dress (or red dress if you prefer). and then if you’re me and take pole classes, you think about wearing the skirt to pole class to be all girly while i dance. wins all around!

my search continues…(by the way, The Boyfriend apparently hates the term “maxi dress” because it makes him think of menses.)

i think these plus the all saints dress and the la vie en rose electric blue one shouldered thing i got up in canada last weekend (which is part of the reason why i haven’t posted anything in awhile) will give me a well rounded long dress wardrobe. hooray! i’ll have dresses to wear this summer!

i need a maxi dress this season if i’m going to wear any dresses at all because of the massive bruises i have from pole. i think i’ve found what i want to start with at all saints! luckily i’m heading down to la in a month so hopefully i can try it on and buy it in person! love the leather straps on it; it’s just enough luxe to keep the perennially casual maxi dress from looking out of place when not at the beach, which for me, is practically always.
