i’ve been on the hunt for swimsuits for my impending trip to la and betsey johnson is totally in my crosshairs. the bikini on the left is the one i’ve caught, the one on the right is one that i will continue to stalk. but can we take a second and just marvel at the absolute over-the-topness that is the second suit? i mean, there’s embellished, but this is embellished. (that’s right, bolded AND italicized.) but, um, it would be kind of perfect for pole (allpoleallthetime).
so one of my friends is having a mad men themed party in a few weeks. i had planned on getting a vintage-y dress complete with petticoat. i thought that at the very least i’d get multiple wearings out of the petticoat for the boudoir dance classes at divine movement. it’s a good thing i didn’t buy the outfit spur of the moment though! after attending my first inversion class (as in i am now hanging upside down on the pole), it occurred to me that a knee or tea length petticoat is just going to get in the way at pole (either getting tangled up while spinning or flipping over my head while inverting), so i really couldn’t use that as an excuse to invest in a petticoat. but where does one get teeny tiny skirts that just barely cover one’s ass? well, in times when i need something a lil off kilter, i turned to hot topic and they did not let me down.
thank you, hot topic, for always having what i need, be it a kooky hat, a true blood tshirt, or a slutty skirt, and at such good prices! hopefully i’ll be able to find this tutu/petticoat thing is available in stores just because i’d like to avoid shipping costs and get that instant gratification thing going on.
i am not entirely sure what happened in the few years since i last bought a swimsuit but, wow, they got expensive! (or perhaps my taste has gotten better?) each swimsuit that i’ve liked is around $100 for each piece! even i am having a hard time justifying spending $200 on less than a half a yard of cloth that i will wear only a few times. we’ll see. i won’t be heading to florida for a few months yet so hopefully one of these options will go on sale and still be in stock by the time july rolls around.
my love of ruffles is translated in swimwear to skirt like bottoms. i definitely prefer the fuller coverage of a skirt-like/boy short bottom, which seems to be often paired with a fuller coverage top as well. i am not as fond of the bandeau cut for a top, but i like these bottoms too much to mind the more obvious tan line the bandeau will create. i think it’s hard to tell here, but the middle picture of marc by marc jacobs’ 2010 resort collection belleville bikini has a skull eyelet pattern embroidered into it. so. me. *swoon*
this bikini by undrest (excited they do swimwear as well as lingerie!) appeals to my latent athletic side. aside from the cleaner silhouette of it, i can’t quite place why i keep thinking beach volleyball but i do. the contrasting trim, though, seems to be a nod to the brand’s underwear roots, which may be why i also find this bikini cheeky and feminine at the same time.
does anyone have suggestions for suits in either of these veins that won’t cost more than a pair of designer jeans?
divine movement, the pole studio i go to, recently introduced a boudoir dance class into its schedule. basically instead of the regular warm up, learning a new move, and dance format it’s a quick warm up and then dance dance dance. they’re even encouraging us to “dress up”. i don’t think anyone’s going to start showing up in full on lingerie but since we wear tiny shorts anyways to climb the pole, i thought this was a pretty compromise.
i’ve gone on a bit of a lingerie spree lately, which then led to looking back into tanks/camis with shelf bras, which then led to the realization that i am not comfortable with unlined bras and shirts with built ins. what does one do if one gets cold? is this something you’re just inherently okay with (showing off the girls’ jewels) or what? so i’ve started looking into those lil adhesive nipple covers. i never knew the nuances that one must take into consideration to find the perfect nipple cover. apparently there’s a rampant problem with wrinkles and “telltale puckering” with the regular (more papery?) kind.
i found these bristol 6 natural silicone nippies at local lingerie boutique, zovo. while they also make more decorative nippies (shapes, patterns, etc.), these medical grade silicone nippies are even flash proof, meaning they have a matte finish so that flash photography won’t reveal all. the natural silicone nippies must be for the complete opposite customer from the ones who buy the nippies that are encrusted with rhinestone; please explain to me why there is even a market for these.
seriously. urban daddy’s email yesterday featured this most ridiculous and yet still extremely sexy version of undergarments. i don’t know how luminoglow lingerie did it. i don’t even need to know why they did it. i just think that you should check it out too. you know, to help with any of those middle-of-the-night-roll-over-and-grope-you-but-glow-in-the-dark-would-help-The-Boyfriend-find-me sessions.
